Caped Cowl 3-in-1

This is a light warm multi use wrap. It makes a wide soft cowl, a great head scarf/cover, and a light drapey poncho.

This is super easy, and can be made up quickly. It only takes one cake of Bernat Pipsqueak Stripes.

Pattern Level: Basic, Beginner, Easy

If you can long tail cast on, cast off, and knit in the round you’ve got this, it’s that simple.

I wear a L/XL and am 5’6 and this fits very comfortably. Can fit S-XXL. Measures approximately 19” tall and 26” across (32” around) when laid flat, but has ample stretch in both directions for wearing.

Materials:
1 Cake (9.8oz/284yds) of Bernat Pipsqueak (or yarn of choice)
8mm in the round knitting needles (will work on both 16in and 21in rounds)
Stitch Markers

Long tail cast on 125 stitches, placing a stitch marker every 25 stitches. Keep your tension slightly loose.
(I like to use 1 color for where my round starts/ends, and a second color for the rest of the stitches, to keep track)

Knit in the round (checking stitch count every couple rows) until all but 18-24 inches of your cake is left. Complete your last round, cast off, cite off, and weave in your end.

Take your 18-24 inches you’ve saved and weave it in between your stitches around the top of your cowl. Tie loosely.

You now have a cowl, head cover scarf. For wearing it as a cape shrug, drape it over your shoulders. Use the tie you’ve woven in, to tighten the neck so that it stays on your shoulders, but is loose around your neck, tie a loose drapey bow.

Enjoy!

(working on a longer version with arm holes, will post it when done.)
